This is...

This is our lake
a place to breath in the fresh air
and breath out the sibling rivalry
a chance to bond when our gaurd is down
and our hearts are full.
That is my boat hair
strangly similair to modern day style
That is our love for one another
and although it is still there,
distance has dulled the true feeling
the feeling of companionship
and of being bestfriends.

This is my sister, now far from home
never coming back to the lake we once called ours
caught in the web that is her own life
distant but never forgotten.

This is my sister
and this was our life
forever changed by marriage
and adulthood.

But I would never change the kiss
that I always plant on her head.

  1. What a charming picture, a nice reminder of what sounds like a different era in your life. I know just what you mean by "the web that is her own life" and have seen it in my own family. These lines are particularly poetic: "Distance has dulled the true feeling/the feeling of companionship."
